So! Christmas is upon us once again.

I'm working on something special for New Year's so I probably won't do a Christmas themed pic this year (who knows though haha).

I just want to share warm cheers to everyone!

First,

Maybe I really AM losing the plot and need to take a step back, it's not like I never borrowed a pose myself (though to be fair I usually tell you guys if I do). I just worked so hard on drawing high-heels on a TDI character...

But I will clarify this:

If you ever want to borrow from my work I am cool with it AS LONG AS YOU ASK FIRST

I will be adding watermarks to my works this coming January, but I suspect the genie is out of the bottle already.

Secondly, and much more importantly,

I really want to apologize to ~ShoogerBare, seeing that image in particular caught me completely by surprise, I didn't mean to hold them up as a pariah. It also makes me think that perhaps issues on censorship are finally becoming more liberal around here again.

I will be giving ~ShoogerBare a subscription as a gift and I encourage you to check out his gallery, some great works in there.

First, I just wanna say thanks to those who fav'd/commented on my work recently, I'll get to your comments this week.

My grandmother in Ontario died on Saturday, turns out I may have Ménière's disease and to top it all off I went through my gallery to do one of those "year in review" things that's going around and I realize I dislike a lot of my work, or the work that I do like no one else seems to. It's got nothing to do with the content it's all about execution or lack thereof. Heck even my latest work I see errors now (arm length). UGH! I need a vacation from life I think.

Anyway, my grandmother passing I can handle, the Ménière's on the other hand is making it hard for me to do anything (including drawing), I see the doc next week so hopefully something good will come from that.

The #Megaman-Legends-Club has posted a tie-breaking vote, I think the best option is "horrible cover art" as it hearkens back to the days of the 80s when game carts had baffling and somewhat disturbing "artwork" on them, also I think it has a lot of potential.

I realize there's a lot of negative energy coming from my journals lately, This is just a passing phase, One of my bad days.

For those looking for wank material, sorry I'm going arty for a bit you'll just have to put up with my bullshit for a while. That out of the way, let's continue...



So here's the first attempt at applying what I've been reading and aspiring to for more than a week now (see last journal for more).

For me, working without lines is like working without a safety net, I had a great deal of trouble conceptualizing this. I'm sure most of you are going to look at the design and think "But Ron you sexy man, anyone can slap together something like that!" yeah, well, it's a lot harder than you might think.

Six hours non-stop to complete, it's like I have two full time jobs sometimes... except I tend to move around more when I'm actually at work. *sigh*




A great artist and friend of the Edmonton Disc Golf Association passed away just recently, his artwork was an essential part of disc golf in Alberta.

He will be missed.

Ok, so, here's a picture I really love in my gallery, and you know what makes it stand out for me? The mix and contrast of colour:



The background is almost the same red as her outfit, I made some variations in colour however was still able to retain contrast. Maybe that's why it catches my eye every time?

Hey all,

I've been doing a bunch of reading on colour theory again, in particular I've been looking at Bill Wray & Scott Wills work in Samurai Jack (some great examples here). It's a fun show to watch, but while others are focusing on the "Jaction" I'm looking at some of the inspired painting going on in the backgrounds with envious eyes.

As many of you know I'm legally blind, which includes colour blindness, so a lot of times I have to borrow colour or make educated guesses when it comes to painting backgrounds and the like. Layout and backgrounds are my two biggest weaknesses at the moment (I think). Anyway, something for me to work on...

Which means expect me to attempt some Samurai Jack style stuff in the near future. I'm the worlds biggest copycat, but I think I can learn from it.

This is something I feel is important for me to do before getting back to gift arts. So please be patient!
