It's a toughie, that's for sure.

A lot of people seem to be having the same mental block.

There was a time, not too long ago (but definitely before 2004) when Hellboy would've been in that category; in the world of HeroClix (collectible miniature figures for card "fighting"), there were Marvel ones and DC heroes and in the Independent comics, there was a rare chance you MIGHT luck out and get a Hellboy one in the box, but the one time I tried, I got nothing but a bunch of gravity- and biology-defying females I'd never heard of.

Recently, they came out with an entire line of BPRD figures, including 2 different ones just of HB (Hellbaby and himself as an adult) ... so I can't do him, darn it. ;)

Maybe "Sidney Leach, Human Metal Detector!" ...

The wolves in the Rockies and Yellowstone need your help NOW. Look up NRDC (www.nrdcaction.org [link]) or Defenders of Wildlife (www.defenders.org [link]) for more information.
:iconatomictiki:
Heh! Yeah, how quickly some things get into the mainstream eh?

I like your idea though, sounds like a fit to me!

Now, question: what's the definition of "obscure"? I mean, I may wind up doing something easier than a human, maybe like a Figman of the Imagination from _Twice Upon a Time_ (it'd be faster to draw, but I SO want a bean-bag of one, complete with google eyes!), but if I've never heard of something, doesn't necessarily mean it's obscure ... :D

There's lots of things/people/fads/etc. I haven't heard of until the kids around me roll their eyes and figure I'm overdue for the old folks' home. ;)

For the record- coloring with colored pencils is okay? Some jams say digital or line art only.

There is no 'I' in 'team' but there is a 'me'.
:iconatomictiki:
A-OK by me!

Well obscure is one of those fuzzy things, but usually the metric I use is if I look for fan art of it on dA (or even Google) do I find a lot of entries or just a few? If I get a lot of entries (like, more than 100) I'd probably say it's not a good character to use, but if I see only one or two characters and almost no references on Google then I am supremely impressed by your skillz as a fan-art archaeologist :)

That's a good criterion ... ;)

:iconatomictiki:
I think so, often people will geek out about something and single handedly create a bunch of fan art for it, I look out for that too so as not to skew the results of my search :)
